Who/What are Climate Motivators?
Climate Injustice was a focus during the summer of 2023 here at Bethany United. We had a Young Adult from our community of faith who was hired and working collaboratively with 14 youth and 3 Coordinators from across the country for the United Church of Canada as a Climate Motivator. This work experience was funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Kyla Mills had secured support from the Executive Board and Dr. Mark King PhD, PGeo, FGC agreed to be her mentor throughout the 8-WEEK job experience. Mark is a hydrogeologist with a very successful career in GROUNDWATER research and consulting. His research is also focused on the environmental concerns inherent in energy procurement and the move to electrification with lithium resources.
This page will be used as a reference page and she has shared resources for people to learn more about climate issues.
If you wish to have a chat about climate change with Kyla you can reach her by email at kmills.motivateclimate@gmail.com

Cranes 4 Climate Change
Kyla Mills brought attention to this strike in her last week with us as a Climate Motivator with the United Church of Canada. She along with help from her second climate event made 196 cranes, which are currently hanging at the front of our sanctuary. The crane's symbolism varies across cultures, representing values and ideals like longevity, wisdom, good luck, happiness, peace, balance, prosperity, purity, loyalty, and power. It inspires people worldwide through its beauty, resilience, and connection to the natural world and spiritual realm. We are making Cranes to show our support for the strike and the meaning behind the strike while also showing our want for the longevity and prosperity of the earth, our loyalty to climate justice, and to stand up against the powers that be.
