Welcome

“I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” Matthew 25:35

Whether you come on your own, with family or with friends, there is a place for you in our large and warm community of faith. Our community of faith convenes every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for a service of prophetic and relevant preaching, prayer and singing. This is highlighted by the dynamic music ministry of Shawn Whynot, who offers us hymns, worship music, choral anthems and inspirational solos. His large choir is always looking for new recruits. Our witness includes a deeply connected community that loves to spend time together. Following each service, we invite you to a time of fellowship with our warm and welcoming Bethany family.

Bethany is so much more than Sunday worship. We provide supportive pastoral care. Christian education is available through various faith formation programs serving all ages, including children and youth, through the leadership of Ann Bradley and Louisa Duck. We also tirelessly work to help those in need through local outreach (Sunday Suppers at St. Andrew’s United and the West End Ecumenical Foodbank to name two), with the generous support of our congregation. To learn more about these, please visit our Ministries webpage.  Our dedicated volunteers work behind the scenes, from managing our faith and ministry programs, overseeing building and property operations, or providing food, décor and support during funerals. And it is only through the many helping hands at Bethany that our spirited events have become fundraisers of great success – widely anticipated by the greater Halifax community. These annual events truly highlight the love and cohesiveness of our church family while allowing us to continue in our journey of faith and outreach. Our reward is truly in service.

If you are new to Bethany, we invite you to visit us. Perhaps you will feel called to join our church. Or maybe you would simply like to explore whether Bethany feels right for you. All are welcome, we are eager to hear from you, whether it be in a quieter, more relaxed setting, or following Sunday service. Please contact us by clicking on our “Contact” link, by calling our main number (902-455-0521), or, during our Sunday worship service, ask an usher to sign a friendship pad sheet that is available, and we will contact you right away!
